A message from Father Goodman:

(Updated 03/07/2020)

The Bishop's Conference of England and Wales have recently announced that the restrictions on public worship will be partially lifted, from the 4th July at the earliest.

It is our intention to open Our Lady's or Corpus Christi for public Masses as early as this can be done safely.

For both our churches, there will need to be some preparation work before reopening for public worship. There is some additional repair work to complete at Corpus Christi due to a leak. Dates for the resumption of public Masses in each church will be given in due course (via this website, the live stream & facebook).

When public celebrations of Holy Mass resume, there will be various restrictions, including:

  • People must provide face coverings, which must be worn,
  • There will be no congregational singing, and no singing by groups / choirs,
  • Churches must be sanitised after each celebration of Holy Mass,
  • Offertory collections: people are encouraged to make their offerings via standing order or online. Collection bags will be near the entrance of the church for people to make their offerings before or after Holy Mass,
  • Holy Communion will be distributed after Holy Mass has finished. Stewards will direct individuals to Holy Communion, and sanitise hands. People should queue for Holy Communion in a socially distanced manner

All other gatherings such as choir practice, children's catechesis, First Holy Communion and Confirmation classes and so on will remain cancelled and will be rearranged at a later date.

Mass will continue to be live streamed for the benefit of the housebound and those that must continue to shield: a link will always be on this website. The schedule for all live streamed and public Masses is/will be on the newsletter, together with the intentions for these Masses. (Public Masses at Our Lady's, when they begin, will also be live streamed)

Other devotions will be live streamed, as detailed in the newsletter.

When Our Lady's is open for private prayer, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for private adoration. For practical reasons, this will not be live streamed.

Please pass on this information to any friends you know who have no access to the internet.

Let us pray for one another in this difficult and distressing time. Please pray particularly for those who are going to be lonely and isolated at this time.

God bless you,
Fr Goodman Parish Priest, Corpus Christi and Our Lady’s

Corpus Christi and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour are two Catholic parishes in the north and north east of Wolverhampton, in the Archdiocese of Birmingham. The parishes cover the Low Hill, Bushbury, Fallings Park, Ashmore Park and Coppice Farm areas of Wolverhampton. These parishes are increasingly multicultural in character and have been working together under one Parish Priest since 2014.

Corpus Christi church is on Griffiths Drive in the middle of the Ashmore Park estate, a short distance up the hill from the shops. Alongside the church is a large social club with bar and function room.

Our Lady's Church is located on the Cannock Road in Old Fallings, just over 2 miles from the centre of Wolverhampton.
